"An
Exceptional Painting Should Tell a Story and Set a Mood"
Bradley
Kaskin has been working with watercolor, oil and pen & ink for over
half a century. He graduated from the National Art Academy in Washington,
D.C. After trying his hand at display design for some of Washington’s
leading department stores and fashion boutiques, he settled into
teaching art and finally decided that he would specialize in watercolor.
Going
against all conventional watercolor tradition Bradley found that
his style became heavy and rich in color, much like oil painting.
After years of painting landscapes and still life’s he again challenged
the tradition of light and loose watercolor painting by creating
his own unusual technique of heavy, rich and colorful selections
of interesting faces, anatomy and other offerings.
His
oil paintings carry on the tradition of rich colors and textures
and are in the Traditional mode of painting. Bradley is quoted as
saying "if I paint a barn I want it to look like a barn and
not a butterfly". He enjoys mixing his brush work with palette
knife for maximum effect and continues to follow his motto of "telling
a story and setting a mood".
Unusual
as it may seem, he paints in two distinctly different styles. If
he feels the painting is of a serious nature, he will use a traditional
style. Yet a subject matter that is lighter and fun will inspire
an impressionistic offering. Bradley often refers to himself as
a “Storyteller with a brush”. His paintings are available for you
to own and enjoy.
